What is your primary means of adventure, AKA what gets you most psyched?
Running and skiing in the mountains!
Describe a few climbs, trips, or moments that have defined you as a mountain athlete:
- 2012 World Long Distance Mountain Champion
- 2011 2nd Place Overall Grand Traverse Team with Marshall Thomson
- 2013 Overall North American Ski Mountaineering Champion
- 2013 Ski Mountaineering Champion Vertical and Teams Race
Describe your most memorable night in the mountains:
The 2011 Grand Traverse with Marshall Thomson. We pushed through the night and despite having some skin issues and not knowing our place, we arrived 2nd overall.
What has scared or intimidated you as a mountain athlete?
Lightning! You never know how fast it will creep up on you!
What would your adventure partners be most surprised to learn about you from before the time when they met you?
That I’m deathly afraid of lightning!
What are your top 5 all-time favorite pieces of CAMP equipment?
- Lightweight jacket
- Light Race pack
- Racing climbing skins
- Lightweight pants
- Climbing helmet
Why are you a CAMP athlete?
I am a ski mountaineer in the winter, competing in Ski races throughout Colorado, New Mexico, and other parts of the country, some times even the world. These races require lightweight gear to keep you speedy, but gear that is reliable and will help make me the best athlete I can be. For every skimo race, we are required to have certain gear, and of course, the lighter the better. The CAMP pack can hold all the necessary gear I need, including skins, a harness, via ferrata, lightweight jacket and pants, and hydration. They also have a skin suit, that fits well, and has the necessary components I need when in race mode.
