First 18 years –Fairport, NY (RAIDER PRIDE!) Since then, Gunnison, CO
What is your primary means of adventure, AKA what gets you most psyched?
Right now SkiMo does it for me… In the summer when the snows less abundant I like to get after it on the trails whether it be biking or running. The trail system in Gunnison County is second to none in my opinion – lots of variety from high desert to alpine and not a lot of people is an added bonus!
Describe 5 climbs, trips, or moments that have defined you as a mountain athlete:
- Summer Nordic camp at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid NY
- Montezumas Revenge 24 hour MTB race
- Primal Quest Lake Tahoe
- Elk Mountains Grand Traverse
- Running the Middle Fork of the Salmon River at 50 year flood level.
Describe your most memorable night in the mountains:
Any night in an expedition Adventure Race is pretty memorable but not always in a good way! During Primal Quest Moab we were trekking fast through some canyons while a thunderstorm was approaching. We came up on a nice rappel just as lightning was flashing off all over the place ‐ luckily it was far enough in the distance that there wasn’t any safety concern but it was spectacular to be gliding down the rope in a huge natural amphitheater that was being lit up every few seconds by lightning!
What has scared or intimidated you as a mountain athlete?
Skiing no fall zones… I tend to fall, so skiing areas that require a lot of focus and skill are scare me every time.
What would your adventure partners be most surprised to learn about you from before the time when they met you?
I’m super scared of heights!
What are your top 5 all‐time favorite pieces of CAMP equipment?
- Flash Anorak
- G‐Comp Warm Glove
- Speed 2.0 helmet
- Rapid Race SkiMo pack
- Contour/Camp 100% Mohair Race Skins
Why are you a CAMP athlete?
LIGHT and FAST – need I say more?
