A bit more about Mohair … because we love to talk about it. Mohair is an extremely unique natural fiber with excellent properties for climbing skins. It has a diameter of just 0.03 mm and it is hollow inside. It is extremely fine, yet highly robust and durable, and it remains supple and grippy even in the coldest temperatures. The yarn we use is produced in compliance with the international Mohair Sustainable Guidelines and we use a dry edge laminate between the plush and the base material to minimize water absorption on the trimmed edge. The best skiers on the planet know about Mohair and it is what they use for the optimal blend of grip and glide that only Mohair can provide.
We also love to share this testimonial from one of the most humble people we know. Not enough people know about Aaron Rice’s incredible year in 2016 when he broke the world record and skied uphill 2.5 million vertical feet. He did it on Contour skins, ‘I skied just over 1 million feet on a single pair of Hybrid Mix skins. They were still kickin at the end too!’
