The verdict is in … C.A.M.P. sponsored athlete Ethan Passant of Crested Butte is the country’s fastest rando racer. He won all five COSMIC races along with several other major races. Bryan Wickenhauser of Crested Butte made a significant showing with four podium finishes as did Mike Kloser finishing second place in both of the races he competed in. Monique Beeley of Breckenridge won every race she entered with Karen Kingsley of Ophir trailing close behind. Elliot Larson of Aspen dominated the men’s telemark division with podium finishes at every race. Janelle Smiley also made a strong showing in the women’s telemark division.
The inaugural COSMIC ski-mountaineering race series came to a close with its final race on Saturday, April 28 at Arapahoe Basin. Some of the country’s best all-around athletes had it handed to them by the altitude. Other racers, particularly those who live, work and train at altitude, were able to head straight to the beer tent following the race.
With a successful first year, COSMIC is ready to up the ante for 07-08 and C.A.M.P. will be there once again. The company was proud to be present as the lead hard goods sponsor and after getting up close and personal with the racers at each event, C.A.M.P. employees have come to the conclusion that there is no vibe like the COSMIC vibe.
Adios and thanks to all of the racers and volunteers … see you next year!
